Colorado ManREACH (Rural Education in Action for Community Health) will be sponsoring a state-wide gathering for rural gay/bi men September 21-24 at Camp Kiwanis on the Grand Mesa.

Colorado Man REACH exists to build heart centered connections and community for gay and bi men in rural Colorado. The roots of ManREACH go back to 2003 when the initial organizers did a tour of Colorado organizing dinners for men at many locations. Some of you may have attended that dinner in Pueblo at that time. The state wide gatherings began in 2004, and have been going strong ever since. The gatherings bring together a wonderful and diverse group of men from rural Colorado who share and connect in a deeper "attitude free" way. See the enclosed/attached brochure and registration information. If you have questions, contact Ross, PuebloPFLAG@yahoo.com or 719-543-6982   OR go to www.manREACH.org for more information.

Adapted from the “Billy Club” that began in Northern California in the early 1990’s, Man Reach is a program designed to build a sense of community and belonging, while promoting healthy lifestyles among gay and bi men in Rural Colorado. It’s roots are founded in HIV/AIDS prevention, and this is accomplished by building trust, a sense of self, communication skills and by strengthening our community. Man Reach provides men with tools they can use to lead healthy lives, and most importantly, keep themselves and others HIV/AIDS free.

With the Man Reach Program of Southern Colorado, we hope to provide gay and bi men the opportunity to meet other men, join community, have fun and play safe!

Additionally, each year, men from Southern Colorado’s Man Reach groups are invited to experience a profound sense of belonging and community with gay and bi men from all over Colorado at the statewide Man Reach Retreats. Like the Southern Colorado Man Reach groups, these retreats provide a safe space to learn about oneself while meeting new people, and learning the impacts of HIV/AIDS on our community, including how you can protect yourself and others.

The vision of  Colorado ManREACH (Rural Education in Action for Community Health) is to build heart-centered connections and community for gay/bi men in rural Colorado.

Colorado ManREACH reflects the following values:
· We are a grass roots and peer-based community.
· We are inter-generational and cross-cultural.
· We support integrating healthy transformations in ourselves, and our community. · We are open, respectful and honoring in a safe environment.
· We model stewardship and mentorship.
· We promote health, responsibility and ownership in a gay-affirming community. · We believe in sexuality as a healthy expression of intimacy.
· We support deeper connections among men, unaltered by drugs and alcohol.

The mission of Colorado ManREACH is to build heart-centered connections and community among gay/bi/queer men in rural Colorado.  Regional events are hosted regularly in locations from Ft. Collins to Grand Junction to Colorado Springs.  Statewide gatherings are held each summer in rustic retreat settings on the Western Slope and Front Range.
Here are comments collected from some of the men who participated in the 2006 ManREACH gatherings:

    Colorado ManREACH has helped me...

“...develop honest, supportive connections with other men that I didn’t think were possible.”

“...discover my inner strengths.”

“...celebrate my plumage!”

“...appreciate the love and beauty I see in each man and the power I feel when we are together.”

“...relate to men in non-sexual ways.”

“...identify patterns in my life that have prevented me from living life to the fullest.”

“...renew lost hope.”

“...meet new friends.”

“...realize how lucky I am.”

A New Chapter Begins at Cal-Wood

The mission of Colorado ManREACH is to build heart centered connections and community
among gay/bi/queer men in rural Colorado.

The first Colorado ManREACH gathering of 2007 will be held at Cal-Wood in Jamestown, CO, just 30 minutes northwest of Boulder, beginning Friday, August 3rd, at 6:00 p.m.  The statewide event runs through Monday, August 6th, at noon.  All involved in the preparations hope you are planning to attend.

Cal-Wood is located on over 1,000 acres of wooded hills and open valleys at the foot of Longs Peak.  It's a great summertime location where you can relax, be yourself, catch up with old friends and meet lots of new ones.

Much has changed since our gathering last fall.  Most recently, Colorado ManREACH obtained 501(c)(3) non-profit status.  This represents a new chapter in the ManREACH program.  Come to Cal-Wood and find out more.  Your input will help the new organization better understand and serve the needs of our community.

"A New Chapter" is the theme of the upcoming event not only because of ManREACH's new non-profit status, but also due to the new chapters that each of us begins at various points in our lives.  Ultimately, these chapters weave together to become our life stories.  You are invited to join this celebration of our unique stories and new beginnings at Cal-Wood.

Here's something else that's new, too.  Now you can register for the 2007 Colorado ManREACH statewide gatherings online at www.manreach.org.  Check out our updated website to find a downloadable, full color brochure and registration form or email us for more information.

See you Friday, August 6th, at Cal-Wood!

Sincerely,

Richard Rivers, 719.271.5865

Colorado ManREACH 2007: Upcoming workshops and playshops

The mission of Colorado ManREACH is to create heart-centered connections and community
among gay/bi/queer men in rural Colorado.

Colorado ManREACH is hosting its first 2007 statewide gathering at The Cal-Wood Retreat Center northwest of Boulder from Friday, August 3rd, through Monday, August 6th.  The Program Committee has set its sights on offering a thoughtful mix of activities, workshops, playshops and MGroup discussions that will reflect the community's varied interests and best serve its needs.

Toward that end, the men on the committee would like to hear from you regarding the programs that are served up at the ManREACH gatherings.  Do you have a question or comment about a past workshop or MGroup discussion?  Do you have an idea for a new playshop or social activity?  The Program Committee invites your feedback.

Prior offerings have included art, music, dance, movies, yoga, hiking and volleyball, along with honest, supportive discussions about relationships, sex, drugs and others issues that affect our community.  All programs should support the organization's mission to create heart-centered connections and community among gay/bi/queer men in rural Colorado, of course.

Colorado ManREACH is hosting two statewide gatherings in 2007.  Food and lodging are provided.  Camping is permitted.  Donations are welcome.  For more information, visit www.manreach.org or email info@manreach.org.

The mission of Colorado ManREACH is to build heart-centered connections and community
among gay/bi/queer men in rural Colorado.

In two weeks, gay/bi/queer men from across the state will gather at The Cal-Wood Retreat Center in northwest Boulder County for the first Colorado ManREACH gathering of 2007.  The four day-long event offers a fun, relaxing and supportive environment where we can meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.  It is a place where we can speak openly and honestly about the issues that matter most to us, a place where men listen to each other without judgment.  Most of all, it is a place where we can create the loving relationships and community we want.
